'To strengthen and cultivate evidence based practice in health care and at the interface of health and social care' Page updated: 2 April 2003Christopher Nester, BSc (Hon), PhDChris qualified as a Podiatrist in 1995 and since then has been working full time of a wide range of research ventures. His primary research training was in biomechanics and instrumentation based research, primarily concerned with measurement of walking and how interventions such as orthoses affect walking.More recently, however, this work has complemented by the development of research more closely allied to clinical practice and particularly patient perspectives. Although positioned primarily within the Centre for Rehabilitation and Human Performance Research, Chris is actively forging links with the staff of the HCPRDU. Ongoing work includes a shared PhD student who is evaluating existing outcome measures in foot and ankle surgery. In addition, Chris and colleagues in Podiatry are exploring areas around patient compliance and the value of footwear to patients with chronic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. These developments are being pursued through a number of external funding applications with members of the HCPRDU and jointly authored papers.
